Ange Percy

Ange Percy is a multi-disciplinary artist whose practice spans ceramics, installation, textiles, painting and printmaking. Her current work explores the way objects carry traces of personal history and are assigned meaning through use, gesture and interaction.

Percy frequently uses material processes as a means of reflection, allowing the physical qualities of making to mirror emotional and conceptual development. Repetition, labour and the accumulation of marks are recurring elements within her work, functioning both as technical processes and as metaphors for persistence, devotion and growth.

This installation brings together a series of handmade stoneware mugs arranged around the gallery space alongside domestic furniture elements. Gathered in loose familial groupings, the mugs evoke traces of the absent interactions they helped to facilitate. The work considers the significance of domestic and utility objects, exploring how these items become intertwined with memory, relationships and ordinary rhythms of life.
